How to quit smoking? Well, there is just one way. That is to stop completely. Are you ready for it though? I think that is the main problem with everyone trying to quit. They are just not ready to undertake what is about to happen. Maybe you are scared? Honestly I think you are ready, it is just your brain that needs to be trained. Smoking withdrawals is with out a doubt more mental than physical. So how do we train your brain? This will differ from person to person, but in the end, you cannot let your brain make you smoke anymore.The tips with in this website hopefully make your how to quit smoking answer easier.

First let’s talk about the withdrawal part of quitting smoking. Sure physically it will be tough. You will be cranky for about a week, and maybe a headache. That is about it for the physical part of withdrawals. The mental part is a totally different story. From the first day you quit smoking, your brain will be telling you how bad of an idea it is. “Ha! You can’t get through today without a cigarette” your brain will say. Every time you usually you smoke, your brain will remind you. It will tell you it won’t hurt to just have one, you have not had one all day. The mental withdrawals are what will put you back in relapse. After a few days of not smoking that is all it boils down to. So we need to arm up to battle our own brain.

It does not matter if you quit cold turkey or use a nicotine replacement. You will still have to deal with the mental withdrawals. So what do we do when our brain decides it is time to smoke? We heard it all before though. Drink some water, or chew some gum. My brain does not want to chew on gum right now, it wants to smoke. You have to do something different to get your brain thinking otherwise. Stub your toe, or do a quick exercise, pushups or anything quick you can do. Maybe even pinch yourself. Something, anything to get your brain focused on something else. This is the key.

So when it is time to quit. Think of your quick activity to help you through it. When it hits it will only last a few minutes at the max. Also try not to put too much emphasis on waiting for your withdrawals to come. Remember when you quit smoking, you are now a non-smoker. So that is how to quit smoking.
