Why Do We Smoke?
Today one in four men and one in five women still smoke cigarettes. You would think with all the information available on the health risk of smoking cigarettes, that the number would be a lot lower. Did you know that smoking is the number two killer in the United States? It used to be number one, but obesity (another subject all together) took its spot.
Sad part is that about all of smokers know the health risk of smoking. They worry. But do they listen? Even with the price of cigarettes being 5 dollars and up a pack, we still keep on puffing. When we get it? That this nasty disease kills, and it kills in a very bad way. Slowly rotting you from the inside out. Then the only way to stop it is to kill your body with chemo therapy with the hopes you can lead a normal life. With cancer running in my family I can tell you one thing. After cancer there is no such thing as a “normal life”.
So why do we still smoke? The nicotine is what we are addicted to. Do we really need it? No we do not. I do think that most non-smokers do truly know that quitting smoking is a very rough road. So if you do smoke, let’s quit. Start planning your quit day. Today let’s change your life for the better. Life without cigarettes is so much better. You will soon see.
